2005 Myka Tiger's Eye Classic Electric Guitar #022 |
The guitar is equipped with a pair of Rio Grande P90s for the neck and middle pickups and a Babybucker in the bridge. Each cover has a solid Macassar ebony veneer permanently fixed to a sturdy pickup cover and is beveled around the perimeter edge. |
For the bridge I used a Stetsbar tremolo designed by Eric Stets. This bridge is an incredible tremolo system. Not only does it stay perfectly in tune but installing it does not remove the mass of tonewood that can rob a guitar of sustain and resonance. Another benefit of this superior design is the use of 2 smaller and heavy duty springs that do not resonate within the range of the guitar. No more faux-reverb. This bridge is as tight and clear as a fixed bridge. It is one of the most unique approaches to the tremolo I have seen and I prefer it over all other designs. Eric and I designed the new way of mounting the tremolo to the guitar with a minimum base plate. The result is a very streamlined look and a perfect fit. |
A decorative binding of curly Koa adds a beautiful detail to the perimeter of the guitar. |
The headstock is especially nice with all of the wood tones finished in a satin oil. Just gorgeous. |
A favorite design element of my single cutaway guitars is the contoured neck heel. You can grab full chords comfortably all the way up the neck. Having the this detail with an oiled rosewood neck makes for a smooth playing guitar. |
The neck is solid Madagascar rosewood. The tone is very nice with a wicked tight lower end and harmonics to spare. The piece is a very tightly grained piece with nice straight grain. |
